This Agreement consists of the terms and conditions for Equity Insurance Co Ltd that describe what you are legally entitled to expect from us when you purchase general insurance products through this website, in addition to your obligations as a customer. Any person(s) receiving products from us shall be deemed to have read, understood, and expressly accepted these terms and conditions which shall be binding on the customer. The terms “we”, “us”, “our”, and “Equity Insurance Co Ltd” refer to “Equity Insurance Co Ltd.”

Our Agreement With You

  1. Products
    Equity Insurance Co Ltd, and by extension the associated brokers and agents, sell a variety of personal and business general insurance products (e.g. Motor, Home, Marine, Personal Accident, All Risk, Mortgage Indemnity etc.)
  1. Payment of Premiums
    Your premium payments are due on the policy start date, annual renewal date and at any monthly intervals as agreed in your Credit Agreement with us. We are entitled to cancel your policy if any premiums are not paid as per the Cancellation Condition in your Policy. If we cancel your policy for non-payment, the policy will end, all benefits under the policy will cease you will not be refunded any premiums that have already paid.
  1. Cancellation by Us
    We have the right to cancel your policy by giving you seven (7) days notice in writing by registered mail to your last known address. If a claim has been made, or an incident that may give rise to a claim has been reported, then no refund of premium will be due. If no claim has been made then we will refund you a pro rata premium in proportion to the amount of time that your policy has been in force. However, if the period of cover is less than the period covered by the premium paid, we will refund the difference subject to the conditions of your policy.Within seven (7) days from the effective date of cancellation, your certificate of insurance must be returned to our offices or if it has been lost or destroyed a sworn affidavit signed by a Justice of Peace in the Geographical Area must be submitted.

    The information about the general insurance products published on this website may include inaccuracies or errors, including pricing errors. Equity Insurance Co Ltd does not guarantee the accuracy of and disclaim all liability for any errors or other inaccuracies relating to the information and description of insurance products displayed on this Website (including, without limitation, the pricing, general product descriptions, etc.). In addition,  Equity Insurance Co Ltd expressly reserves the right to correct any pricing errors on our website and/or quotations made under an incorrect price.

    Customer satisfaction is very important to us. We do our very best to ensure that we deliver a high level of customer service. However, if for some reason we have fallen short of your expectations your feedback is encouraged. If you have a complaint arising out of what we have agreed to provide for you, please let us know at the earliest opportunity by calling our office during opening hours or visiting our contact us page.Within one (1) business day of receiving your complaint, we will acknowledge receipt and will undertake an initial review of your complaint. There may be circumstances during the initial review where we may need to clarify certain aspects of your complaint or request additional documentation from you. In such circumstances, we will explain these requirements and provide you with feedback on the status of your complaint at that time.

Your Agreement with Us

  1. Your Acceptance of these Terms and Conditions
    By purchasing your insurance with us or using our website, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of this Agreement. You agree on behalf of yourself and those you represent to comply with all terms and conditions, including the payment of all premiums when due. You agree that any violation of any such terms and conditions may result in the cancellation of your policy.You represent and warrant that (a) you are of sufficient age to use our services and website and can create binding legal obligations in connection with your use, (b) you are legally authorized to act on behalf of those you represent and accept these terms and conditions on their behalf, and (c) the information supplied by you is true and correct. You understand that you are financially responsible for any use of our services or website by you and those using your name or account.
  2. Changes by You
    You have the right to make changes to your policy. If you wish to request for policy changes, a Policy Amendment Form should be completed and submitted to  Equity Insurance Co Ltd. Please note that changes we make to your policy may also cause changes to your premium.
  1. If You Cancel Your Policy
    You have the right to cancel your insurance policy by giving seven (7) day notice in writing by registered mail to any of our offices. If no claim has been made, or no incident that may give rise to a claim has been reported, we will calculate the number of days your policy has been in force and provide you with a refund if the premiums paid covered more days than up to the date of cancellation or in accordance with the conditions stated in your insurance policy.If you cancel before the new period of insurance (renewal) is due to start, we will return any premium paid in respect of the renewal in full or in accordance with the conditions stated in your policy.If you cancel after the renewal has commenced, we will return premium to you as per the cancellation policy. However, if a claim has been made, or an incident that may give rise to a claim has been reported, then no refund of premium will be due.
  1. Indemnification
    You agree to defend and indemnify. Equity Insurance Co Ltd and any of its officers, directors, employees and agents from and against any claims, causes of action, demands, recoveries, losses, damages, fines, penalties or other costs or expenses of any kind or nature including but not limited to reasonable legal and accounting fees, brought by third parties as a result of:

    • your breach of these Terms and Conditions or the documents referred to herein;
    • your violation of any law or the rights of a third party; or
    • your use of this Website.
  1. Bank and Credit Card Fees
    Some banks and credit card companies impose fees for international transactions. If you are paying for your insurance on this website and outside of Barbados you may be subject to this fee, your bank may convert the payment amount from your local currency and charge you a conversion fee. This means the amount listed on your credit or bank card statement may be in your local currency and therefore a different figure than the figure shown on the quotation from this Website.In addition, a foreign transaction fee may be assessed if the bank that issued your credit card is located outside of Barbados.The currency exchange rate and foreign transaction fee is determined solely by your bank on the day that they process the transaction. If you have any questions about these fees or the exchange rate applied to your purchase, please contact your bank.
  1. Privacy Policy
    You consent to our processing and sharing of personal information about you and other members of your party that you have provided to us in accordance with the terms of and for the purposes set forth in our Privacy Policy. You represent that you have read and agree to the terms of our Privacy Policy, which can be found at our website.

Effective Date

The effective date of this policy is September 30th 2021. We reserve the right to modify our policy at any time without prior notice to you.
